Airports Authority Releases Passenger Totals for 2024

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced that more than 53.54 million passengers traveled through its airports in 2024. This represents 5.8 percent growth from the year before and is a new system-wide record. Most of the increase happened at Washington Dulles International, which added six new airlines and experienced a record passenger total for the first time since 2005.
Airport Travel Tips for 2025 Inauguration Visitors

Passengers at Reagan National and Dulles International Airports should be prepared for additional crowds and congestion from Friday, January 17, through Tuesday, January 21, for the 2025 presidential inauguration that is expected to bring an influx of passengers to both Washington, D.C., airports. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend travelers will also contribute to increased passenger loads. Traffic volumes and wait times may be greater than usual during this timeframe.

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority released its inaugural Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) Impact Report last week. Highlighting significant achievements throughout 2023, this new report incorporates narratives and metrics that better align with industry reporting standards. It replaces the Corporate Social Responsibility report from past years.
The Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority hosted 50.6 million total passengers in 2023, setting a new travel record at Reagan National and Dulles International airports. This achievement was driven by strong demand at both airports, resulting in a new passenger record at Reagan National and an international passenger record at Dulles International.
Airports Authority Joins Federal Program to Combat Human Trafficking in Aviation

To combat human trafficking through its airports, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced Thursday that it is partnering with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and its Blue Lightning Initiative. The initiative trains aviation personnel to identify and report potential traffickers and victims.

Looking for a convenient place to conduct a business meeting or an event? Look no further. Historic Terminal 1 at Reagan National Airport offers meeting and event space for rent. You can choose conference rooms for your business meetings or the expansive Historic Lobby with extensive views of the airfield, for your corporate or private events.
As visitors step into this introductory gallery, a display of oversized stamps and video monitors grabs their attention. Video images bring stamps to life and pique curiosity through questions that are answered as visitors explore the surrounding displays.

Interested in having a formal place to welcome your group to Reagan National Airport?
The Airport can furnish up to two 6’ folding tables and up to four chairs, along with table cloths and skirting between doors 7 and 8 on the baggage claim level of Terminals B and C. There is a $250 charge per day. Space is reserved on a first come, first served basis. Only one reservation per day is allowed.
The space can be reserved by calling the Airport Manager's Office at 703-417-8003.
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, through its Arts Program, welcomes visitors to the National Capital Region from across the country and around the world. Visitors can experience diverse regional, national, and international rotating exhibits, dynamic live performances and new and innovative public art displays that celebrate the stately beauty, spirit, and great creativity of the National Capital Region.
Live Performances
Seven consecutive days of snow removal operations took place at Washington's airports. Airport snow crews worked around the clock to clear the airfield and roadways at DCA.
Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport is, along with Washington Dulles International Airport, part of a two-airport system that provides domestic and international air service for the Washington DC metropolitan and surrounding regions. Both Airports have been managed by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) since 1987 when they were transferred by Congress to the Authority under a long-term lease authorized by the Metropolitan Washington Airports Act of 1986, Title VI of Public Law 99-50.
