Great news for travelers: The New 14-Gate Concourse has opened, replacing Gate 35X and serving American Airlines customers who previously flew out of the gate. The building resembles its neighboring concourses while introducing a new flair to the airport's overall design. Construction began in 2017 and opened in April 2021 - three months before reaching substantial completion in July.
Between Terminal B/C and the Metrorail station, work is entering the final stages on two New Security Checkpoint Buildings with curved roofs between the Metrorail station and the departures curb. Most of the remaining construction tasks have moved to the interior, with no significant impacts on passengers. The new checkpoints are scheduled to become operational in the fall.
Park Free Up to 60 Minutes
An extended grace period of up to 60 minutes in Terminal Garages encourages drivers to drop off, pick up or wait in garage facilities instead of driving through the construction zone. Walkways from Terminal Garages provide an easy connection to all terminals.
Find Your Ride
Passengers have several ground transportation options at the airport. Taxis, ride app and private vehicles are located on the Baggage Claim level, and all shuttles are located on the Ticketing level. Metro, parking garages and rental cars can be accessed on the Concourse level.
When driving to the airport, tune your car radio to 1640 AM for information on airline drop-off and pick-up locations, as well as travel tips.
Turner Construction maintains a project information hotline at 571-260-0440 where callers can leave a message with questions or concerns about the Terminal B/C long-term redevelopment program.
